about

Dedicated to Ash

All sounds on Japanese Canopies were produced by the Korg Minilogue, recorded live in one continuous take. The Synthesizer was run through a Strymon Deco reel-to-reel emulator to achieve the recording’s colouration and instability. This pedal, along with reverb from an Elektron Digitone, were both manipulated live and used as performance tools. Most tracks relied on a combination of the Minilogue’s internal sequencer and played notes, however Komorebi used a recorded Minilogue loop played back via a small portable recorder into the Minilogue’s input, and Sparrows of Hiroshima has no sequencing. Very slight level and EQ adjustments were made to the recording, but as much of the original character is preserved as possible.
